Top Five Will Smith Movie Performances

Will Smith has always been my favorite actor. I watched his movies all the time when I was a kid. I remember him and Diddy (Michael Jackson) appearing on the cover of the music magazine, “Pop” together in the 1980s. It was a must-have.

In fact, I was around that age when he first came out of his shell and started acting and singing. So, I enjoyed watching him all those years. Of course, this was back when he was still just another “Rapper” in the rap music industry.

Since then, however, he has made his mark in many different genres including musical theater, TV shows, films, movies, etc. So, I decided to take a look at some of his best performances.

A Knight’s Tale is Will Smith’s breakthrough musical appearance as the title character, Ralph MacFadden. It tells the story of an orphaned boy who gets involved in a chess tournament and later meets a beautiful woman through the game.

This role was also a stepping stone for him into a more “serious” musical theater role. He did eventually get the chance to show off his acting abilities as he appeared in a leading role in the Tony-winning Broadway musical, “Wicked.” He also received a Tony nomination for the role of Ricky Bobby in the acclaimed “One Mississippi.”

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is another Will Smith movie. It follows the story of a Hollywood superstar that finds himself involved in a mission to save Africa from the terrorists that threatened it. It was a box-office success, earning around $5 million dollars worldwide.

I Know What You Did Last Summer was another major musical theater hit. Based on the teen movie of the same name, it tells the story of a teenage girl and her friends who find themselves forced to play a sort of reunion musical.

The star of the show was of course, Whitney Houston, and she performed with one of the most famous groups of all time, the legendary “Wham!” The movie “The Break-Up” featured R&B singer Jimmy Brooks, and then there was “Old School” featuring Will Smith’s son Jaden.

Of course, you would expect Will Smith’s Dad from the Three Amigos (with Kel Mitchell) to appear in several of his films. This was the case with “Dirty Harry”Young Guns.” But then, there was the big-budget action-thriller, Menace II Society, starring Will Smith’s brother, Jaden.

You would think that Thelma Jefferson, the flamboyant personality of this movie, would be the star of the show. She was.

However, that is what made the film’s premiere and audience acceptance so important. There were so many die-hard fans of the first one that the stars of this movie came across as just normal everyday people and audiences started to warm up to them more.

Of course, all of these movies and more can be viewed on YouTube, especially if you choose to see them on the internet. There are also a lot of photos of this actor and even some behind-the-scenes shots. It’s a great place to go to learn more about the guy and all of his career highlights.
