Because the procedure has helped mankind and the world in the past, it is understandable that it will continue to do so in the future. It is important to remember that many other forms of genetic manipulation have also been used in the past, and they were both ethically questionable.

As scientists and ethicists discuss the ethical concerns surrounding genetic manipulation, we must keep in mind that each person has the right to think for themselves. If a person is comfortable with the idea of modifying their DNA, then the procedure should be allowed. If a person feels that genetic alteration is unethical, it is probably best to wait for an alternative form of genetic alteration, such as cloning.
