An Interview With Dunja World

Check out the interview between Chairman/CEO of iTunes Exposure James K. Moore and rising pop star Dunja World.

JAMES: Thank you for taking time to speak with me.

DUNJA WORLD: You’re welcome. It’s my pleasure.

JAMES: Ok, let’s get started. When and why did you start music/entertaining?

DUNJA WORLD: I started playing piano when I was 5 years old. Writing the music became a tool of escape from reality growing up during the Civil War and also coping with my mother’s illness as she had cancer.

JAMES: That’s pretty sad but inspiring. So, how would you define your style?

DUNJA WORLD: Popular and inspirational. Making songs that have a message.

JAMES: Nice. What was the first type of music you listened to?

DUNJA WORLD: I loved listening to film music. I am also a classically trained pianist and composer, so I have a strong grounding in theory of music.

JAMES: Ok, is your family is musically inclined?

DUNJA WORLD: Yes. All my family has a good ear, so I could never fake a good playing.

JAMES: Describe your family member’s musical interests and abilities.

DUNJA WORLD: My Father used to compose songs during WW2 in order to cope. He didn’t know how to write music. Later on, he was singing some melodies to me, and I wrote them down. He is now in heaven.

JAMES: Which famous artists do you admire? Why?

DUNJA WORLD: I love Sade, I also love Prince. I love any artist who has something interesting to say and has an impact.

JAMES: Have you been in competitions? Won any prizes?

DUNJA WORLD: Yes, I’ve been in many competitions since my childhood, and won piano and composition prizes mostly in Europe, because that’s where I traveled the most during my school years and upbringing. Now I live in New York City.

JAMES: Cool. Seems like you’re well rounded. Do you perform in public? Describe those occasions? Concerts, radio, TV?

DUNJA WORLD: I do. I performed at many venues connected to Foundation events.

JAMES: What advice would you give to beginners who are new to the industry?

DUNJA WORLD: You can’t be someone who you are not. Do not compare.

JAMES: Where do you see the music industry in the next 5 years?

DUNJA WORLD: Hopefully it would be more fair to artists…

JAMES: What wouldn’t you do?

DUNJA WORLD: Compromise

JAMES: I see you’re very passionate about that. Ok, so professionally what’s your goal?

DUNJA WORLD: If my song touches anyone in some ways, I feel I accomplished something. I am not trying to be another famous singer, I just want people to be uplifted by the message.

JAMES: What’s your artistic outlook on life?

DUNJA WORLD: Live life with purpose, and don’t try to go through the wall. The right door will open up.

JAMES: Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?

DUNJA WORLD: There are many situations that inspired me in life, but one of them is maintaining the sense of peace in the midst of many life calamities.

JAMES: I can understand that. What obstacles or hurdles did you have to overcome to make it to where you are today?

DUNJA WORLD: Escaping from War and coming to the USA alone and without no support.

JAMES: You’re a very resilient person who has overcome so much. Many can see you as a hero. It’s been a pleasure talking to you and getting to know more about you. I’m definitely a fan of your music and look forward to hearing about your next project.

DUNJA WORLD: Thank you for your kind words. The pleasure was mine sitting down with you.
